Wuxi Power Supply Bureau's automated parking system has completed debugging

Release Time:

2019-01-17

To solve the parking problem, a new 8-story intelligent parking garage built by Wuxi Power Supply Company is about to be completed. In the future, it will use facial recognition for automatic lifting. After a period of final debugging and trial operation, the garage is expected to be put into use within a month.

Recently, some citizens passing by Yunhe West Road discovered that an 8-story high-rise parking garage is nearing completion. It is understood that this garage is a new type of intelligent parking garage built by the Wuxi Power Supply Company to solve parking problems. In the future, it will use facial recognition for automatic lifting and lowering.

Yesterday, near Liangxi Road section on Yunhe West Road, this steel-structured intelligent parking garage appeared very neat and beautiful. Several workers were carrying out final debugging and installation work. The steel frame of the entire garage is blue, and the base plate is red. Above the grids on the first floor, there is a red and green light device every other parking space. Construction personnel also drove a white car up for a test. Lifting chains, similar to bicycle chains, can be seen above each parking space. An engineer named Zhang Lei said that they are from Tada Company in Shandong, specializing in the installation of high-rise parking garages. This garage has 16 parking spaces per floor, and a total of over 120 spaces across 8 floors.

What impressed many citizens is that many of Wuxi's two or automated parking system are difficult to park in and often malfunction. So, is this taller garage difficult to park in? Is it energy-intensive? Is it prone to malfunctions? Zhang Lei explained that considering the difficulty of parking, each parking space is 2.5 meters wide, "The car head can just drive in, it's wide enough, it's unlikely to hit the adjacent pillars." The lifting process requires electricity, but most of the time when the car is parked, it doesn't consume much power. He also stated that there shouldn't be any major malfunctions, as this type of interconnected high-rise parking garage is built as a whole, and there aren't many small parts. In addition, to prevent wind and rain erosion, the entire garage will have a transparent "outer shell," becoming a landscape on Yunhe West Road.

It is understood that this garage mainly uses facial recognition for lifting and lowering operations. Multiple red and green indicator lights on the first floor act as guidance. A green light indicates that parking is available; the car owner can drive directly in, park, and then use facial recognition; the car will automatically lift and lower to find a parking space. The entire garage has multiple entrances and exits, so the waiting time will not be very long.

Some people say that this might be the tallest high-rise parking garage in Wuxi. Zhang Lei stated that he is not familiar with the tallest parking garage in Wuxi; the tallest high-rise parking garage he has worked on in other cities is twelve stories. In fact, some tower-type high-rise parking garages can be built to over thirty stories high. Currently, many cities are using this intensive garage approach to solve parking problems by building upwards. The cost of each parking space is 10,000 to 20,000 yuan; the higher it is built, the higher the cost. According to observations, this garage, calculated at 2.5 meters per parking space (16 parking spaces in a row is 40 meters), is about 3 meters long, and the entire floor area is just over 100 square meters.

Yao Wenge, from the Comprehensive Management Office of Wuxi Power Supply Company, explained that the parking garage was originally their company's parking lot, with a capacity of 30 to 40 vehicles. Parking has become increasingly difficult, particularly when subsidiaries from other districts hold meetings there, requiring extensive coordination and causing significant headaches. To address this, they've allocated space to pilot a 'small high-rise' automated parking system. Parking spaces are approximately 30 centimeters wider than standard spaces. Usability and energy efficiency will be assessed based on usage data. The garage is expected to be substantially completed by the end of this month and operational as early as next month.
