What are the technical specifications for mechanical automated parking systems?

Release Time:

2020-06-09

Mechanical parking garages are a type of special equipment with characteristics similar to elevators. To address the problem of parking difficulties, some cities have begun to construct multi-story parking garages. To ensure that the construction of mechanical multi-story parking garages meets the planning and usage requirements of urban planning and transportation, technical specifications for mechanical multi-story parking garages have been developed.

In accordance with the "Shandong Provincial Engineering Construction Standardization Management Measures" (Shandong Provincial Government Order No. 307), the "Technical Specifications for Automated Parking Garages," compiled by Shandong Provincial Institute of Construction Development and other units, has completed its draft for soliciting opinions and was open for public feedback in July 2019. Ultimately, these technical specifications will be jointly issued by the Shandong Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Shandong Provincial Market Supervision and Administration Bureau.

With the automated parking garages appearing as if after a spring rain, they are becoming increasingly integrated into our lives. However, the design and construction of automated parking garages must be safe, reliable, convenient, efficient, and compliant with urban planning, traffic, fire protection, environmental protection, and parking information release requirements. To ensure that the construction of mechanical automated parking garages meets the management requirements of urban planning and traffic, and the usage requirements of relevant construction projects, to standardize the planning, design, manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and operation management of automated parking garages, to achieve scientific solutions, advanced technology, economic rationality, safe construction, energy conservation, and environmental protection, and to achieve safe and reliable operation of parking equipment, these specifications are specially formulated. These specifications have a normative role for the technical requirements and performance requirements of mechanical parking equipment, as well as related supporting facilities. The "Technical Specifications for Mechanical Automated Parking Garages" apply to the planning, design, construction, use, and maintenance of newly built, expanded, and renovated parking garages.

What is a mechanical automated parking garage?

A mechanical automated parking garage, also known as an automated parking garage, uses mechanical automated parking equipment as the primary means of storing or transporting vehicles within the entire parking facility.

What are the classifications of mechanical automated parking garages?

Automated parking garages can be classified into two types according to their automation level: semi-automatic and fully automatic. By usage, they can be classified into dedicated and public automated parking garages. By operation method, they can be classified into unmanned automated parking garages (such as fully automatic mechanical automated parking garages like PPY, PXD, and PCS), quasi-unmanned automated parking garages (such as semi-automatic mechanical automated parking garages like PSH, PJS, PCX, PSX, and PDX), and driver-operated automated parking garages (such as self-driving automated parking garages). Based on the number of parking spaces, they can be classified into extra-large (more than 300 spaces), large (151-300 spaces), medium (51-150 spaces), and small (less than 50 spaces) automated parking garages.

What are the dimensional specifications for parking in mechanical automated parking garages?

Vehicles suitable for parking in mechanical automated parking equipment are classified into five car groups (X-small, Z-medium, D-large, T-extra large, C-super large) and one bus group (K) based on their dimensions (length, width, height) and weight. The suitable vehicle dimensions and weights for each group are shown in the table below.

Dimensional Parameters of Mechanical Automated Parking Garages - Automated Parking Garage Dimensions

Mechanical automated parking garages should accommodate large vehicles and should allocate 1/5 or more mechanical parking spaces to accommodate vehicles reaching the height of buses (K-type vehicles).

Retrieval Time Requirements for Mechanical Automated Parking Garages

The total time for consecutive vehicle exits or entries in a public mechanical parking garage should not exceed 2 hours (120 minutes).
