There are many transmission methods for fully automatic three-dimensional parking systems. What are the advantages and disadvantages of fully automatic parking systems using chains and steel wire ropes?
1. Stability. Chain hoisting is superior. Due to the structural differences between chains and wire ropes, platforms using chain hoists can only sway in the front-back direction, while platforms using wire rope hoists sway in all directions (front, back, left, and right). Also, under the same external force, the swaying amplitude of a chain-hoisted platform is significantly smaller than that of a wire rope-hoisted platform.
2. Impact Force. Chain hoisting is superior. Elevating platforms experience significant impact upon startup. Chain drives can withstand sufficiently large impact forces without breaking. However, wire ropes can stretch, deform, or even become tangled under operational impact, affecting the accuracy of the lifting operation. Frequent use increases the risk of breakage under impact, reducing equipment safety and reliability. Furthermore, damage to wire ropes can lead to individual wire breakage that is difficult to detect. Frequent use necessitates replacement every six months, resulting in a short lifespan.
3. Cost. For buildings with 10 floors or less, chain hoisting is relatively less expensive. This is mainly because the structural cost of wire rope hoisting systems is high, and the length of the lifting platform for wire rope systems is longer than that of chain hoisting systems. Above 10 floors, chain hoisting loses its advantage; wire rope systems become relatively cheaper. This is because for garages exceeding 10 floors, the unit price of chains is higher than that of wire ropes, and the increased weight of extra-long chains necessitates a heavier counterweight.
4. Manufacturing and Installation. Chain hoisting is advantageous. Chain and sprocket drive systems are easy to install and operate reliably, and are widely adopted by most manufacturers. Wire rope drives require larger drums, are more complex to manufacture, and can affect aesthetics. Installation may cause tangling or breakage of the rope, posing safety hazards.
5. Maintenance and Replacement. Chain hoisting is advantageous. In terms of maintenance convenience, if a chain is damaged, only the damaged sections need to be replaced. Wire ropes, however, must be replaced entirely. Replacement requires tightening the rope ends on the drum and ensuring neat winding; the tension must be appropriate. In terms of maintenance convenience and cost, chain hoisting is significantly superior to wire rope hoisting.
